Napa Valley Baseball Club takes Labor Day tourney title

Napa Valley Baseball Club’s 11-and-under team claimed the championship Monday in the USSSA Labor Day Classic tournament at Manteca’s Big League Dreams ballpark.

Varsity Girls Tennis: Braves beat the heat, Crushers on court

Two days after wilting from the heat and Napa High’s strong lineup, the Justin-Siena girls tennis team made an about-face with an 8-1 rout of host Vintage.

Women’s College Volleyball: Treasure Valley 3, Napa Valley 1

Napa Valley, with a sub-8,000 enrollment, was the third opponent for 12,000-enrollment Treasure Valley of Ontario, Ore., during the Chukars’ week-long tour of NorCal two-year colleges on Wednesday.

Varsity Boys Soccer: Justin-Siena 4, Vanden 3

Eduardo Gutierrez had two goals and Alberto Aguayo and Jaime Moreno each had one as the Braves improved to 3-0 with Wednesday’s road win at Travis Air Force Base. Eric Gutierrez contributed two assists and Jason Dougherty added one assist.

JV Girls Water Polo: St. Francis 8, Vintage 4

For the Crushers in the defeat, Corinne Schafle had seven goals and four steals; Lexi Baldwin had a goal and a steal; Olivia Husted had one assist and four steals; Laurel Davis took two shots, Chelsea Murdock added a shot, and Katherine Pella had one steal; and Madeline Murdock had six saves and one steal in goal.

Varsity Volleyball: Justin-Siena 3, Ursuline 0

Kelsey Scanlon had 11 kills and two aces and setter Lauren Yannucci tallied 26 assists and three aces as the Braves improved to 2-0 with Wednesday night’s 25-22, 25-19, 25-19 nonleague road win in Santa Rosa.

JV Volleyball: Justin-Siena 2, Ursuline 1

Gabby Salva, Katherine Lee and Skylar Hall each had five kills as the Braves came back to beat the Bears for their first win Wednesday on the road, 23-25, 25-23, 15-10. Setter Megan Castelucci racked up 17 assists.
