Cohn honored by veterans
Bruce Cohn, proprietor of B.R. Cohn Winery and longtime manager of the Doobie Brothers, was honored by the National Veterans Foundation at a benefit screening of Edward Nachtrieb’s documentary “All the Way Home” in Los Angeles. In the past 21 years, Cohn’s B.R. Cohn Winery Fall Charity Festival and the Doobie Brothers have raised more than $2 million dollars for the National Veterans Foundation.
Proceeds from the screening support the National Veterans Foundation’s “Lifeline,”a crisis hotline that fields more than 275,000 calls from veterans in need of help.
In fewer than six months, the foundation has seen an increase in calls by more than 400 percent, attributed to the new wave of veterans returning from war. The goal is to increase call center hours from 12 hours a day to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Prior to founding B.R. Cohn Winery and Olive Oil Company, Cohn spent years living on the road with the Doobie Brothers. He continues to manage the band along with running his winery.
In 2002, B.R. Cohn Winery produced the inaugural vintage of Doobie Red, a blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cab franc, proceeds from which benefit National Veteran’s Foundation. A three-bottle collector’s set features album and CD artwork from the band’s first three records.
