Hagan hurls Napa to win in opener

Jason Hagan struck out seven batters, including the side in the first inning, as Napa opened Keith Connelly 4th of July Invitational Tournament action with a 7-0 win over Windsor Thursday at Borman Field in Yountville.
Hagan, normally a reliever, started and threw the first five innings. He scattered four hits and went 1-for-4 at the plate to aid his own cause.
“I was really happy with that,” said Napa coach John Hagan of Jason’s extended stint on the mound.
Ben Monroe hurled the final two innings, allowing one hit and striking out one.
At the plate, Caleb Mendoza was 2-for-3 with a double, while Paul Sciacca and Graham O’Young each went 2-for-4 and doubled.
Matt Remington was 1-for-3 for Napa.
Napa plays North Valley of Nevada today at 3:30 p.m. at Borman Field.
North Valley was also a winner Thursday, 16-2 over San Francisco.
In other games: San Bruno 3, Vallejo 0; San Carlos 2, Mendocino 0; Pacifica 15, Clear Lake 4; San Mateo 11, South City 6; and Daly City 8, Fallon, Nev. 4.
