Dear editor, Five Boy Scouts from Troop 777, sponsored by First Christian Church of Napa, have earned Boy Scouts of America’s highest rank of Eagle Scout. Over the last one-and-a-half years Kyle Ebeling, Geoff Lyle, David Laning, Dustin Jones and Kiel Gordon have fulfilled the requirements of Eagle Scout. To obtain this rank, numerous merit badges are earned along with one final “Eagle Scout Project” each Scout must plan, coordinate and follow through to completion. The Eagle Project is a project that must be of benefit to the community.

Kyle Ebeling rebuilt pitching mounds, bases and refurbished a backstop and dugouts for baseball fields at Harvest Middle School. Kyle is a graduate of Napa High School Class of 2007 and is currently attending Azusa Pacific University, majoring in music.
Geoff Lyle rebuilt pitching mounds, bases and refurbished a backstop and dugouts at Kennedy Park Field for his project. Geoff is a graduate of Napa High School Class of 2007 and is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps.

David Laning’s Eagle project is a rebuild of pitching mounds at Kennedy Park. David is a graduate of Vintage High School Class of 2007. He currently studies astronomical engineering at the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Dustin Jones’ project consisted of raising funds for the USO, a service organization for our Armed Forces. Dustin is a graduate of Vintage High School Class of 2007 and is currently attending Solano College, majoring in fire science.

Kiel Gordon’s Eagle Project has been to build new tables and benches along Lake Marie Trail at Skyline Park. Kiel is a graduate of Napa High School Class of 2008 and is planning on attending Napa Valley College in the fall.
