On an afternoon that mirrored a blustery game at Candlestick Park, Napa Valley College’s baseball team out-pitched, out-hit and out-scored Los Medanos College-Pittsburg to win 11-6 at Storm Field on Tuesday.
Wrestling Report: Musante wins national titles for Napa club
Members of the Napa Sheriff’s/Napa Valley Wrestling Club participated in the ASICS U.S. National Wrestling Championships last weekend at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Prep, College Report: Napa High softball 9-0 in MEL
Napa High’s softball team remained undefeated in the Monticello Empire League on Tuesday after its 15-0 win over Wood on the road. The game was cut short due to the mercy rule. Mackenzey Bard picked up another win after striking out nine batters and walking just one. She allowed one hit.
Sports Capsule: Local swimmers headed to championship meet
Twenty-one of the Napa Valley Swim Team’s members have qualified for Pacific Swimming’s 10-and-under championship meet, to be held April 28 in Sunnyvale. There are over 113 teams and over 12,000 swimmers in Pacific Swimming, whose territory includes teams as far away as the California-Oregon border to the north, Monterey County to the south and various counties in Nevada. Swimmers had to meet certain time standards in order to qualify for this meet. Those swimmers who have qualified, and who will be representing NVST, are:
