Recent trout plants replenish catch supply at San Pablo, Conn Dam

• Napa River
It’s not red hot anymore, but you can still score some nice stripers on bait.
Cut bait will work but look for some live bait for the best action. Sweeney’s Sports has live bullheads, mud suckers when they can get them, ghost shrimp — and grass shrimp on Fridays for the weekend.
Sturgeon are still on the prowl — mostly in the bay and up at Port Sonoma.
The two shrimps are the dinner du jour for these monsters.
• San Pablo Dam Reservoir
They were to receive another load of 2,400 pounds of trout on April 11. That puts their total intake of trout at over 20,000 pounds since mid February — with more to come.
Best bets are Powerbait (rainbow, lime glitter, chartreuse), crawlers, marshmallows — and a combo of your choice just to change things up.
San Pablo regular Gary Cruz has already caught 15 trout that weighed between 5 and 10 pounds — just since mid-February.
Bob Aguilar fooled an 8-pounder the other day.

Lake Hennessey
Speaking of fish plants, another drop of rainbow trout will go in to Conn Dam this week. Try the same bait as for San Pablo above.
Warmer weather will get those bass moving up shallow. Fish small plastics in weeds and on structure; just let bait sit there for a count of 60 before just moving it a tiny bit — then repeat.
• Clear Lake
We fished it two days last week. We boated and released 41 bass to 5 pounds.
It’s fun to attend a weigh-in.
The contestants are asked to give their thoughts about the lake and the area. I learned a lot by listening to them.
Go on up to Konocti Harbor Resort at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, April 25-27, for the preliminary weigh-ins.
The final weigh-in will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Wal-Mart, 15960 Dam Road in Clearlake.
With a total purse of $275,225, as many as 400 top pros will be vying for the first prize of $65,000 — and second at $35,000.
• Lake Berryessa
Michael Wright threw large swim baits and took in a toad. It was a 14.8-pound largemouth bass. The team at Spanish Flat Resort Marina recommend trolling the narrows at 25 to 43 feet for nice bags of trout and salmon.
