Sports capsule: NYSL registration continues Wednesday
Registration for the Napa Youth Soccer League recreational season continues at Bel Aire Elementary School, from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Fees are $70 per player, and those interested should visit www.nysl.org for multi-player discounts and additional information. The 2007 season runs from Sept. 8 through Nov. 11.

NV Soccer Club tryouts continue Saturday
Napa Valley Soccer Club tryouts will be held at the Redwood East Field on the following dates and times:
• Under-13 and 14, Saturday and Sunday. Boys will try out from 9 a.m. to noon, and girls will try out from 1 to 4 p.m.
• Under-15 boys and girls and under-16 and up boys, April 28-29. Boys will try out from 9 a.m. to noon, and girls will try out from 1 to 4 p.m.
• Under-16 and under-18 girls only, May 12, 9 a.m. to noon.
To be eligible to try out, players are required to bring the following — birth certificate (copy), a 2x2 recent picture, NYSL registration form (available at tryouts), $70 registration fee, and a parent signature on the form./Register
VHS boosters golf tourney tees off Friday
The Bill Nunes Memorial Crusher Golf Classic, presented by the Vintage High School Athletic Booster Club and a benefit for the Vintage High School Athletic Boosters Club, is Friday on the North Course at Silverado Resort. Check-in is at 10 a.m. and is followed by a noon shotgun start. The $150 per person cost covers green fees and golf cart, lunch on the course, tee prizes and awards. It also includes a food and wine reception and a silent auction at 5 p.m. A live band, “Ring of Fire,” will also perform. Dinner-only tickets are available for $25 per person. Queen of the Valley golf deadline Thursday
The 33rd annual Dr. Dwight H. Murray, Sr. Men’s Golf Invitational, a benefit for Queen of the Valley Hospital Foundation, is May 7 at Napa Valley Country Club. The tournament serves to commemorate Murray’s lifetime of service and to celebrate the memory of one of Napa’s most celebrated and distinguished citizens. Murray’s many honors included serving as President of the American Medical Association and being named an Honorary Christian Brother. Through the generous support of Napa’s citizens and local businesses, the tournament has donated over $275,000 to the hospital. The last two years the tournament has raised over $40,000.
The $200 per person entry includes a buffet luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., no-host cocktails from 6-6:45 p.m., and a diner at 6:45 p.m. All entrants receive a tee prize, beverages on the course, wine and brandy. The event is a two-man best ball at 90 percent of handicap and has a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
Sponsorships include a $150 donation to be a hole sponsor and $50 to be a donor. There is a $50 cost for dinner only. Checks are to be made payable to “Dwight Murray Invitational.” The event’s deadline to sign up is April 20.
