Four arrested in AmCan after Wal-Mart site burgled

CommentAn early Friday morning burglary spree in American Canyon ended with four men in jail.
American Canyon Police officers arrested Victor Omar Maldonado, 30, of Napa; Carlos Alberto Hernandez, 26; Carlos Tomas Flores, 20, and Rafael Ernesto Vasquez, 29, all of Los Angeles, on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property.

Napa Sheriff's Sgt. Doug Pace said an American Canyon deputy noticed the four men driving away from the construction site of Wal-Mart Supercenter along Highway 29 at 2:30 a.m., and pulled them over.
"He could see burglary tools and construction equipment (in the car) in plain view," Pace said.

Pace said the men broke in to 15 storage bins at the site and took hand-held machines, power saws and other construction equipment. He also said that the four men may have also been responsible for similar burglaries reported on the 100 block of American Canyon Road and the 3800 block of Broadway. The driver of the vehicle, Vasquez, was also charged with DUI at the time of his arrest, Pace said.
